Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments
At Qi For Life Acupuncture Clinic, we offer a comprehensive range of Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments. Dr. Zhang selects the most appropriate methods based on your individual diagnosis and needs.
Acupuncture
The foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points to stimulate the body's natural healing processes and restore balance to the flow of Qi.
Electronic Acupuncture
A modern enhancement to traditional acupuncture, electronic acupuncture adds gentle electrical stimulation to the needles, intensifying the treatment for certain conditions like chronic pain and muscle disorders.
Facial & Cosmetic Acupuncture
A natural, non-invasive approach to facial rejuvenation that improves circulation, stimulates collagen production, and promotes a healthy, youthful appearance without chemicals or surgery.
Cupping
Glass cups are applied to the skin using suction to remove impure energy, improve circulation, and treat respiratory diseases, back pain, neck pain, and shoulder tension. Some temporary marks may appear as toxins are released.
Moxibustion
The burning of mugwort herb near acupuncture points to strengthen blood circulation, stimulate the flow of Qi, and maintain general health. This warming technique has been used for thousands of years across Asia.
Guasa
A traditional therapy using a smooth-edged tool to apply pressure strokes on the skin. Guasa works on the skin, blood, nervous system, and lymphatic system to boost circulation and strengthen body Qi.
TDP Lamp
A therapeutic infrared mineral lamp that emits specific wavelengths to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. Often used in conjunction with acupuncture for enhanced results.
Chinese Herbs & Consultation
Personalized herbal formulas are prescribed based on your unique diagnosis. These time-tested remedies work synergistically with acupuncture to address the root cause of health conditions.
Chinese Medical Qigong
A practice combining movement, meditation, and breathing regulation to enhance Qi flow, improve blood circulation, and strengthen immune function. Dr. Zhang may recommend specific exercises for home practice.
What to Expect
Initial Appointment
Your first visit will last approximately one hour and include a thorough consultation where Dr. Zhang will diagnose and determine which TCM treatments are right for you. Using traditional diagnostic methods including pulse reading and tongue diagnosis, she'll develop a personalized treatment plan. Your first treatment will typically begin during this same visit.
Follow-Up Treatments
Follow-up visits include a shorter intake period before treatment, generally lasting 40-60 minutes. The number of treatments needed depends on your age, gender, and the duration, severity, and nature of your condition. Most patients feel improvement after 3-6 sessions, with significant results typically seen after 10 or more treatments.
During Treatment
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin—about the size of a thick human hair—and produce feelings such as tingling, warmth, pressure when inserted. Many patients relax deeply or even fall asleep during treatment. Needles remain in place for 30 to 45 minutes while you rest with soothing music in a warm room.
