About Dr. Li Zhang

Dr. Li Zhang, LAC., Dipl. O.M., M.D. (earned in China), M.S. is a licensed acupuncturist with over 30 years of education and experience. In 1991, she graduated top of her class from the best college of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China and then went on to work for the most prestigious and largest acupuncture center in China. Dr. Zhang was born and raised in a medical family. She majored in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in college and practiced in Shanghai before moving to the United States.

 

She earned her M.D. from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and received her Masters Degree in Acupuncture from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. These are the best schools of Chinese Medicine in China, and she graduated top of her class from both. She has eight years of education in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She held a position with the largest acupuncture center in China, Shanghai Acupuncture and Moxibustion Institution. Selection for a position there is very competitive and it was a great honor for her to hold that position. In addition to studying Chinese Medicine, she also studied Western Medicine to broaden her knowledge of the human body.

 

She worked as an acupuncturist in Shanghai for six years before coming to the United States to conduct medical research at Vanderbilt University as a postdoctoral fellow. With her education and previous work experiences, she has vast knowledge in combining acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to treat various internal chronic conditions and pain, such as anxiety, allergy, stress, migraine, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer support treatment, neuromuscular paralysis, Parkinson’s disease, hypertension, neurodegenerative disease, arthritis, sport injuries, chronic pain and numbness, diarrhea, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, stroke rehabilitation. In addition to her general practice, she specializes in women’s health and fertility problems. She has been successful in treating infertility, IUI, IVF support, high FSH, Chinese herbs, miscarriage, egg quality, implantation, embryo transfer, uterine lining, pregnancy, endometriosis, premature ovarian failure. She also received specialty training in pediatric acupuncture in China and has helped many children with autism. She enjoys scholarly endeavors and boasts more than twenty publications and one book, Pediatric Acupressure.
